Chenega Corporation Storage Engineer in Washington, District Of Columbia


100% Remote

NJVC is seeking a Storage Engineer to help with administrating storage area networks, specializing in EMC and NetApp systems and backup systems. The candidate will work within the storage engineering team supporting the Infrastructure and Operations Hosting Environment within the Department of Transportation.


  • Responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Storage Area Network (SAN).

  • Perform all maintenance, configuration, and deployments to the SAN system.

  • Provision storage and monitor capacity.

  • Provide daily support of the storage environment and backups.

  • Work on storage related tasks, like volume creation, LUN provisioning, and data migration.

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 8+ years’ experience administrating storage area networks, specializing in EMC and NetApp systems and backup systems

  • Experience working with:

  • EMC storage

  • Cloud infrastructure

  • NetApp storage

  • Cisco storage fabric switches

  • Nexus platforms

  • EMC Certified Storage Admin or equivalent

  • NetApp Certified Data Admin or equivalent

  • Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals or equivalent

  • Background check required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to obtain a public trust

  • Must be able to visit customer sites when requested

  • Experience with EMC Unity 300, 450, 500, and 600

  • Experience with XtremIO, Isilon OneFS, NetApp, and AltaVault

  • Experience with EMC VNX5300, and VNX5600

  • Experience with EMC RecoverPoint Gen 4 and Gen 6 and Unisphere

  • Experience with Microsoft and Azure StorSimple

  • Experience with Cisco Switch

  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting

  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals

  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications

  • Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues

  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor

  • Previous customer service experience strongly desired

  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
