Summary
NJVC is currently looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC supporting a DOT contract.
Responsibilities
Responsible for managing and overseeing the operational support within the Data Centers, NOC, and DR team.
Manage and assign tasks and deliverables.
Demonstrate required technical skills, including the ability to organize, direct, and coordinate the planning and execution of all tasks and deliverables assigned.
Create and establish new standards and procedures and translate high level work plans into detailed assignments for team members.
Monitor and track progress of project and work plan.
Collaborate with external development teams to validate solution architecture within an agency cloud environment.
Identify opportunities for optimizing cloud consumption by the agency and provide strategic direction for addressing those opportunities.
Support migration of on-premises workloads to cloud, following agency governance and reference architectures.
Identify and communicate opportunities for improving agency security posture within cloud environments.
Support strategic cloud initiatives, like TIC 3.0, Zero Trust Architectures and DevSecOps by providing architectural guidance and hands on implementation of approach.
Review and approve change requests for cloud-based workloads.
Provide leadership to junior engineers to increase understanding of agency cloud environments.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
10+ years of related experience managing and leading teams providing operational support to the Data Centers, Network Operations Center (NOC), and Disaster Recovery (DR) team is required
5+ years of experience deploying/configuring workloads within Microsoft Azure Commercial Cloud and/or AWS Commercial Cloud
Azure Solutions Architect and/or AWS Solutions Architect
Background check required with the ability to obtain a public trust

Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor.
Previous customer service experience strongly desired.
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
