Chenega Corporation Mail Handler in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary

Executive Order 13495, The Non Displacement of Qualified Workers Under Service Contracts provide first right of refusal to incumbents on contracts. If the position is accepted by the incumbent on the job, other application/resume of non-incumbents will not be reviewed.

The Mail Handler will provide mail room support functions during duty hours for incoming and outgoing mail processing and deliveries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties involving the control, processing, and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail.

  • Receive, open, and distribute mail addressed in a variety of ways for distribution to all delivery points based on knowledge of office programs.

  • Read and classify correspondence to ensure proper distribution.

  • Obtain receipt signatures as necessary.

  • Record and control incoming and outgoing registered, insured, and certified mail.

  • Complete forms for USPS, FedEx, and other private courier delivery services.

  • Process and deliver incoming registered, certified, insured, express, and other various items personally to the addressee/authorized agent.

  • Inspect outgoing accountable mail to ensure they are in proper format and addressed in accordance with appropriate regulations and guidelines.

  • Maintain 100% accountability of all registered mail.

  • Utilize automated computer systems and software, such as a spreadsheet program, to create, update, revise, sort, reformat, and/or manipulate data in spreadsheets using a variety of data.

  • Provide monthly reports.

  • Provides general administrative and logistical support.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 0-2 years of administrative experience.

  • 0-2 years of mail processing experience.

  • Background check and must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Associate degree or equivalent preferred.

  • Proficient with formatting, processing, and records maintenance for all official documents.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Excel.

  • Ability to schedule appointments and correspond via email.

  • Ability to exercise mature and independent judgment and initiative.

  • Must have a positive attitude.

  • Must have the ability to collaborate with and promote a positive relationship between colleagues, partners, and clients.

  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and professionalism under pressure.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with ability to switch priorities quickly as needs change.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required.

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
