NJVC approaches the work with the intensity expected of a mission-critical IT provider, working within the framework of people, processes, and technologies to meet customer requirements.
The DOT (Department of Transportation) Enterprise Information Technology Shared Services (EITSS) supports the department’s office of the chief information officer in developing and implementing an enterprise IT infrastructure and common operating environment across DOT. The contract still has 5 years left.
The Infrastructure, Server Engineer provides support, implementation, and design services for Microsoft Active Directory and Windows-based systems across the enterprise, including directory and identity management solutions. Resolves and appropriately completes assigned tasks and change requests and acts as an escalation for support issues. Applies new solutions through research and collaboration with the team and determines the course of action for new application initiatives. Implements new software solutions as required by the business. The core infrastructure technology duties include enterprise Microsoft Active Directory, ADFS, Microsoft Certificate Services, Azure Authentication, policy configuration, and top-level support for enterprise-wide initiatives.
Responsibilities
Work you’ll do
As an Infrastructure, Server Engineer within the DOT (Department of Transportation) Enterprise Information Technology Shared Services ( EITSS ) team, you will:
Enterprise-level support for Active Directory for global initiatives following those through to implementation via collaboration with project and support teams.
Identify opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance service delivery everywhere possible.
Perform Root Cause Analysis and Problem Management for the directory services environment.
Serve as the escalation point for application support and troubleshooting, and provide guidance and direction in the resolution of escalated issues and/or complex production, application, or system problems.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
Install, configure, and maintain Active Directory and third-party software utilities for hardware systems within company operational guidelines.
Create and maintain system documentation for domain technologies, including installation, configuration, and appropriate troubleshooting steps.
Improve existing processes through solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation.
Provide training as required

Qualifications
B.S. degree in a computer science, information technology, or computer-related discipline OR
High school diploma or GED equivalent and 7+ years of IT work experience in a global information technology infrastructure environment
Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, or 2022 Administration (MCSE, MCITP certification)

Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor.
Previous customer service experience strongly desired.
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it.
