Chenega Corporation Facilities Technician in Washington, District Of Columbia

The Facilities Technician will perform technical supply management work and oversee routine building and maintenance. The Facilities Technician will assist with procurement of supplies, ensure proper operation and perform preventive equipment maintenance of facilities in support of the Navy at Strategic Systems Programs Headquarters (SSPHQ).


  • Support SP16 procurement by maintaining supply inventory and developing supply lists for reordering of supplies and materials, reviewing specifications, and coordinating requests with government card holders.

  • Assist with procurement of supplies, material, services, delivery, and installation of supplies and equipment at SPHQ.

  • Keep office supply stock replenished and maintain storage rooms, supply closets, etc.

  • Provide labor for furniture reconfigurations, room modifications, and safe relocations as required.

  • Provide restocking, labeling, and organization of storage rooms and equipment as required.

  • Support SPHQ safety, emergency management, fire inspections, and provide Building 200 fire warden extinguisher inspections.

  • Support the telecommunications program at SPHQ and serve as liaison with service vendor for all repairs, maintenance, customer requests, and new work.

  • Maintain telephone inventories, track changes on database, revise documentation, and post on SP16 shared drive.

  • Provide escort service for all maintenance and project contractors on an as-needed basis.

  • Process/deliver supply orders.

  • Other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 2-4 years of facilities maintenance experience.

  • Background check and must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand inventory, maintenance, sketches, plans/blueprints, procedure manual, and safety rules.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Excel.

  • Ability to Schedule appointments and correspond via email.

  • Ability to exercise mature and independent judgment and initiative.

  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and professionalism under pressure.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with ability to switch priorities quickly as needs change.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required.

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
