The Intermediate Engineer will perform engineering/scientific studies, tests, and evaluation of hypersonic technologies. The Intermediate Engineer will focus will be on the design, development, testing, and the verification and validation of new hypersonic technologies during the implementation into the components, subsystems, and end item weapon systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capture and archive enabling technology R&D activities including design, tests, and analysis activities including models, drawings, notes, processes, and procedures.

  • Develop detailed test and experimental plans to examine hypersonic technology characteristics such as trajectory shaping and optimization, materials and sensor performance, and integrated hypersonic modeling.

  • Coordinate briefings, point papers, and other documents to provide technical and programmatic information and data to the government customer.

  • Participate in technical design reviews, test planning working groups, simulation analysis working groups, and post test data analysis reviews.

  • Participate as a member supporting program test engineering Integrated Product Teams.

  • Utilize technology feasibility and maturity analysis for cost and risk reduction to assess producibility, supportability, and system performance.

  • Review and technically access mechanical, electrical, and software design data for accuracy and compliance with government and industry specifications.

  • Develop technical data (digital artifacts) that define the physical attributes of weapon system components and support equipment utilizing mechanical and electrical Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.

  • Utilize model-based design tools for the development, review, and analysis of new designs and changes to existing designs.

  • May be required to provide daily supervision and employee recruiting, development, and retention in compliance with policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of relevant experience required in:

  • Engineering

  • Physical Sciences

  • Math

  • Management Information Systems

  • Related field

  • Interim Secret acceptable but must maintain minimum Secret security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 7 years of relevant experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of DoD systems engineering processes and procedures.

  • Familiarity with DoD and Dept of Navy processes and procedures.

  • Working knowledge of system engineering methods and processes utilizing Model Based Systems Engineering and System Integration.

  • Ability to work in a high paced environment while coordinating with multiple organizations and leadership.

  • Proficient with Microsoft software applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to execute and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

  • Travel: ability to travel 15-30% to CONUS and OCONUS locations.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and Holidays as required.

  • Possess in-depth technical and theoretical knowledge

  • Ability to work independently or as a team member to solve engineering/scientific problems

  • Capable of leading implementation of the system engineering “V” process across a program acquisition life cycle.

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
