Chenega Corporation Database Administrator in Warren, Michigan


The Database Administrator provides database design and development support for various systems and applications that support various government organizations.


Work you’ll do

As a Database Administrator within our Chenega Analystic Busineiss Solutions team, you will:

  • Manage Database Management Systems (DBMS) in production, test, and development environments.

  • Provide technical expertise and development for performing database design, including data warehouse, along with developing, optimizing, and designing stored procedures.

  • Monitor performance and concurrency issues for the databases and data warehouse.

  • Provide and develop error-handling procedures and write scripts to automate database administrative tasks.

  • Provide technical expertise in database management for highly scalable systems and applications.

  • Participate in the architecture and logical design for various application databases and data warehouse(s) that support the business intelligence environment, including the development of the database structure that meets user requirements for the applications or business intelligence environment, insuring the most efficient database possible.

  • Conduct assessments of threats and vulnerabilities, determine deviations from acceptable configuration enterprise or local policy, assess the level of risk, and develop and /or recommend appropriate mitigation countermeasures in operational and non-operational situations consistent with the Risk Management Framework (RMF).

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all DoD Information Assurance and security standards, like DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS), US Army Regulations, policies, and industry Best Business Practices (BBPs), as applicable to the Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and other databases.

  • Provide daily system administrator support as needed for all enterprise productions, Quality Assurance, and development servers.

  • Complete company and project-related training requirements as required.

  • Record labor hours daily in the company’s timekeeping system as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a similar discipline required.

  • 5+ years of DBA experience in the field or IT-related area.

  • SQL server certification preferred.

  • Secret Clearance required.

  • The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced working knowledge of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS), US Army Regulations, policies, and industry Best Business Practices (BBPs), as applicable to Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and other databases.

  • Ability to extract insight from large datasets.

  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software (Microsoft Office suite and Outlook).

  • Ability to rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Must have a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

  • Ability to multi-task in a high-stress, performance-based environment.

  • Ability to establish priorities and meet established deadlines.

  • Ability to attend all customer in-person meetings and conferences as requested.

  • Possess the ability to coordinate and integrate the work activities of several different projects at any one time.

  • Ability to communicate with others effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
