The Software Engineer will perform work that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of software engineering to the NGA process in St. Louis, MO.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize well-defined software processes, such as Agile, to work in a rapid development environment as part of a development team.

  • Design, modify and write software programs and applications using C#, JavaScript, Java, and SQL programming languages in support of various programs for NGA.

  • Update databases from an Access database to a new PostgreSQL database that includes Geospatial capabilities and upgrading the CIB and Foundation management systems to a new Web-based application.

  • Work side by side with Aeronautical users to resolve software problems and to improve users experience with the program.

  • Responsible to create and test installed software packages and installation

  • Work using the Java programming language and Dojo JavaScript library for the Groove program initiative for NGA

  • Utilize Java and spring boot as part of the modernization of the AOE application

  • Assist in software design and architecture decisions.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline and 6 years relevant experience OR Associate’s Degree and 8 years relevant experience OR 10 years relevant experience

  • TS/SCI Clearance required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly desired use of Python and Visual Basic VB6

  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting

  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals

  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end-users on frequently asked technical issues.

  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience strongly desired.

  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
