Chenega Corporation Database Administrator in St Louis, Missouri


The Database Administrator will provide database support for all customer programs and ensure all databases are functioning properly and efficiently.


  • Identify database requirements, analyze department applications, program, and operate and evaluate existing systems and design proposed systems.

  • Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications.

  • Work as a part of a team to gather requirements from customer for current system enhancements or new system designs.

  • Review and perform database conversions for rewrites of existing client systems.

  • Configure and manage supporting databases/applications, Electronic Documentation Management Systems, Workflow Applications, and web-based front-ends, as well as desktop applications.

  • Maintain database performance, implement new releases, complete maintenance requirements, evaluate computer operating systems and hardware products.

  • Support database functions by designing and coding utilities.

  • Prepare users by conducting demos and overviews of new applications, providing information, and resolving problems.

  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Background check required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

  • High school diploma or GED and 4+ years of experience as a DBA may be used in lieu of degree

  • 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining complex applications

  • The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.

  • Ability to travel to local government sites.

  • Fluent in SQL, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and DDL.

  • Capable of building database configuration and control processes.

  • Experience with XML, JSON, and spatial data types and functions is a plus.

  • Experience with database management tools of various kinds.

  • Ability to accept ownership in assignments and team.

  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective in a team setting.

  • Ability to manage multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.

  • Demonstrated data analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Detail-oriented and accustomed to working in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

  • Willingness to research, learn, and apply new concepts and technologies.
