Summary:

NJVC is looking to hire an AWS Systems Engineer to work with/on a software deployment team. As the AWS Systems Engineer you will work hand-in-hand with the Chief Architect (CA), Chief Engineer (CE), deployment Scrum Master, and the Program Management Leadership team to help design and engineer the next generation desktop and web based production and dissemination system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead systems engineering activities that support building and delivering new and innovative systems to implement analytics, exploitation, production and dissemination using web, remote desktop, and cloud technologies.

  • Perform basic and advanced processing tasks using ArcGIS and other products and extensions

  • Build databases or data stores from imagery and cartographic/digital sources; support the development of GIS database designs

  • Review, interpret, and utilize established production processes

  • Perform map and web map production tasks

  • Assist in the design and development of data automation, data migration, and database development projects within the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense

  • Coordinate workflow with project/technical managers

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of prior relevant experience OR Masters with 2 years of prior relevant experience

  • 12 years’ experience may be used in lieu of degree requirements

  • Experience with Amazon Web services (AWS)

  • Experience across multiple System Engineering domains with a focus on standing up and maintaining cloud environments, and the deployment of custom code, COTS, and GOTS to those environments with a Geospatial focus

  • DoD IAT II 8570 cert required

  • TS/SCI required with the ability to obtain a CI polygraph

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to obtain CI polgygraph

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly

  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and related desktop extensions

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly

  • Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, and Windows operating systems; Python scripting; SQL

  • Familiarity with the geospatial domain and technologies (ArcGIS, WMS, WFS, KML).

  • Understanding of SW development methodologies (Agile), Cost and work Estimation (Excel).

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
