The Cyber Security Engineer is responsible for ensuring Information Assurance/Information Security through vulnerability assessments, Risk Management Framework compliance, required patching, testing and documentation, and local area account processing. All work must be performed by applicable DoD, DoN, BUMED, and NMRC policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of accreditation packages thru the RMF process

  • Perform Information Assurance/Information security through vulnerability assessments, Risk Management Framework compliance, required patching, testing and documentation, and local area account processing

  • Ensure all work is performed by applicable DoD, DoN, BUMED, and NMRC policies

  • Support security reviews of all new or modified systems and configurations to ensure a consistent security posture

  • Develop and maintain an acceptable upgrade/maintenance plan with the ISSM and MID management team on estimated time to mitigate all vulnerability on the scan results

  • Provide and maintain all documentation required to comply with RMF Certification and Accreditation requirements

  • Identify, mitigate, resolve, and document IA issues and concerns

  • Perform remediation or imaging activities to elevate a security threat as necessary

  • Support intrusion detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), vulnerability scanning solutions, anti-virus, and anti-spyware protection systems, host-based security systems (HBSS), digital forensics, managed firewalls, web-content filtering, web proxy services, VPN configuration and maintenance, and other systems, networks, and applications

  • Ensure that all Information Technology system(s) are brought into compliance with the latest RMF standards and maintained at that level

  • Assist in the detailed investigation and documentation of security incidents as required, promptly reporting any suspected or confirmed security breaches or policy violations to the NMRC ISSM and MID management team

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred

  • Knowledge of experience with eMASS and RMF

  • Must have supported the submission of at least one RMF package

  • Must have experience using eMASS

  • Must have experience managing STIGs and SRG checklists

  • 3+ years supporting DOD IA and Cybersecurity programs

  • Security+ CE required

  • Secret clearance is required

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with time constraints in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of internal and/or external customers or employees

  • Organized and effective communicator and collaborator with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals

  • Ability to grasp system concepts and communicate their applications

  • Must be capable of quickly learning new systems and associated software applications for proficient execution of tasks

  • Must be capable of managing multiple projects with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment

  • Must be able to speak effectively before groups of internal and/or external customers or employees

  • Must be well organized, an effective communicator, and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals and able to grasp system concepts and communicate their applications
