Senior Systems Administrator will have primary responsibility for supporting the Regional Core Service Area (CSA) out of Osan Air Base, South Korea (DGS-3) and (DGS-3) and other locations with similar architecture/footprint. The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible supporting the installation, configuration and maintenance of Unix/Windows workstations and servers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform software installations and upgrades to Unix/Windows operating systems, IESS database, layered software packages and maintains them in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements. Monitors and tunes the system(s) to achieve optimum level of performance.

  • Support the Operations and Sustainment (O&S) of the IESS system under the DCGS program.

  • Operate and sustain the IESS segment and other assets under the DCGS program

  • Perform support on any/all segments, and on other Government Customer assets located at the sites to include the Customer’s office suite equipment and ENCORE.

  • Installation of new customer software releases, system upgrades, evaluation and installation of patches and resolution of software related problems associated with COTS/GOTS products on Sun UNIX, SGI IRIX and Windows 2000 / XP platforms.

  • General trouble-shooting on the customer workstations, creates user accounts, maintains data files, and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Duties also include performing hardware maintenance and repairs with vendors.

  • Participate in hardware/software testing as required, interfaces with development/integration facility during discrepancy reporting process and assists in site CM.

  • Perform system backups and recovery, provides general trouble-shooting on the customer system, maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.

  • Participate in analyzing new hardware/software needs and participates in customer TEMs, reviews and meetings pertaining to customer issues.

  • Support Regional Services leadership with administrative tasks, status meetings, data calls, etc.

  • Resolve a wide range of system issues, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network issues, and addressing trouble tickets and service tasks.

  • Assist with achieving optimum performance and availability standards through implementing appropriate technical solutions.

  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance of all data center equipment.

  • Manage DNS records, SSL Certificates, crontab entries, Linux/Windows user accounts.

  • Troubleshoot alerts generated by a server monitoring system.

  • Maintain servers for standard Internet services such as DNS, NFS, DHCP, Samba, printing and FTP service.

  • Communicate/coordinate scheduled PM windows with potentially impacted customers.

  • Maintain and manage multiple linked databases to include security, data safety and integrity, disaster recovery, and development and implementation of bulk data import/export procedures.

  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation.

  • Maintain operational, configuration, and other standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Participate in the troubleshooting of system issues internally and coordinate efforts with third party providers and other operational support entities.

  • Interpret and discuss information which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many.

  • Provide advice and recommend actions involving complex issues.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 9 years of relevant work experience required.

  • Experience in the imagery intelligence domain.

  • Experience with UNIX and Windows system administration.

  • DoD 8570 Level II Compliance certification required

  • TS/SCI required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must understand NIS , NFS, Windows Active Directory as well as monitoring all system processes, ability to script in Unix/Windows and modify scripts as necessary for automation and configuration management.

  • Knowledge of the Customer’s processes and procedures and of the Customer’s production systems.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Ability to function as a team member, lead, and independently.

  • Ability to travel 0-15% to Korea area sites as well as other locations with similar architecture/footprint.

  • Prefer skills in one or more of the following: Window Server, Red Hat, IRIX, Solaris, Sybase, Informix, SQL, and Imagery Production Chain

  • General knowledge of database administration, network administration and possess network configuration management skills.

  • Ability to lift or move various pieces of computer equipment, (max 40 pounds).

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
