Chenega Corporation Senior Electrical Engineer - Radio Frequency in Reston, Virginia

Summary

The Sr. Electrical Engineer – Radio Frequency will support the strategic goals of the government customer to meet the mission for designing, engineering, maintaining, modernizing, and documenting technical collection systems and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the program team during the development, testing, acceptance, deployment, and maintenance of any RF-based technical collection systems.

  • Conduct propagation modeling and analysis for communications, bistatic, multi-static, and monostatic

  • Conduct RF systems engineering and reverse

  • Design, develop, produce, analyze, integrate, test, and deploy digital MASINT receiver applications.

  • Plan and execute construction projects and deployments.

  • Provide link budget analysis assuming standard propagation losses, atmospheric effects, environmental effects, and circuit effects.

  • Build transmitters and receivers for communications satellite systems and RF systems.

  • Assist with the preparation of government CDRLs as requested by the Project Lead.

  • Provide pre-deployment and post-deployment support of current and future SCS technical collection capabilities, including but not limited to:

  • Support to system development, validation, and verification testing and acceptance.

  • Support to pre-deployment surveys.

  • Support to logistics, planning, and execution of asset installation.

  • Fabrication and Field Engineering support.

  • Maintenance and decommissioning of forward-deployed assets.

  • Complete daily time recording as required in compliance with company policies and procedures.

  • Complete annual trainings in accordance to company and contract policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required

  • 9-13 years of related work experience, including experience with RF systems, receivers, digitizers, communications, and equipment

  • Experience in planning and executing construction projects and deployments.

  • Demonstrated experience in fixing RF equipment in less than ideal conditions.

  • Experience in designing and building transmitters and receivers for communications satellite systems and RF systems.

  • Experience in designing, developing, producing, analyzing, integrating, testing, and deploying of digital MASINT receiver applications, including low noise amplification, filtering, circuit isolation, timing and clocking techniques, high speed digital sampling techniques, on­board data processing using FPGA, Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC), Programmable Logic Devices (PLD), Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), Digital-to­Analog Converters (DACs), and similar.

  • Experience with satellite radio design, satellite ground system design, and operations.

  • Experience in designing, developing, producing, analyzing, integrating, testing, evaluating, and deploying low and high power transmission systems, including combining networks, Transmit/Receive (TR) modules, Traveling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWAs), Solis State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), and similar.

  • Top secret clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Provide expertise for RF receivers, digitizers, and hardware that operate from 10 MHz to 40 GHz RF spectrum is preferred.

  • Demonstrate strong proficiency working RF communications or radar systems in system development and acquisition programs.

  • Must have the ability to provide link budget analysis assuming standard propagation losses, atmospheric effects, environmental effects, and circuit effects.

  • Must have a good understanding of RF feeds across the spectrum, aperture design, phased arraying, and similar.

  • Must be willing to spend long durations doing field deployments on land, air, inside, or outside of CONUS locations.

  • Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.

  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with time related constraints in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to self-start and work independently or as a team.

  • Ability to travel as required.
