The Security Specialist will be responsible for supporting the SBU Security Department in all areas of personnel, physical, and information security. The Security Specialist will assist staff, managers, employees, and consultants on all aspects of government security requirements and maintains minimum physical security requirements for operational facilities
Responsibilities
Complete employee onboarding and termination security actions for facilities as directed
Complete DISS onboard and out-processes actions of personnel in coordination with FSOs
Perform clearance verifications and coordinate required Scattered Castles checks as required
Process employee e-QIPs in DISS and send email notifications/reviews for accuracy
Coordinate security requirements for polygraphs, counterintelligence screening, and other sensitive position requirements
Maintain Access Commander Database to track security actions concerning employees and consultants
Process classified incoming and outgoing Visit Requests electronically via DISS or fax
Provide timely requests for current employees as contract and/or badge renewal requires
Complete special briefings and debriefings, like foreign travel, courier, NATO, etc.
Produce DISS reports, identifying the needs for PR and CE evaluation requirements
Prepare security ID badges for security identification purposes
Issue, track, and reconcile temporary badges
Maintain an “end-of-day” checklist, visitor badge logs, and visitor logs.
Responds as an on-call person for alarm activations in the MIOS facility, when needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Associate degree preferred
1+ years of security-related experience
Valid driver’s license
Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of DISS; perform actions for all facilities as directed by managers
Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, databases (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint), and Outlook
Attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple concurrent workflows
