Summary: TheVehicle Operations Supervisor (VOS) position is responsible for the overall operation of the vehicle fleet, which includes the repair and maintenance of the fleet, and supervises and directs the activities of personnel engaged in inspecting, repairing, maintaining, authorizing and dispatching general vehicles and specialized equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform fleet analysis, inventory control, training activities, and administrative duties, and performs related duties as required
Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinate Motor Vehicle Operators
Establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
Determine how many assignments can be done concurrently, how many must be delayed, and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required.
Redirect workers and vehicles as required in order to meet changing and unanticipated requirements.
Maintain and control a fleet of vehicles that must be inspected and scheduled for routine maintenance and assures 100% reliability of the fleet.
Ensure proper training of all drivers and assigned personnel to include current licenses.
Must coordinate with motor pool and other facilities for use, replacement, and maintenance of all equipment.
Provide input and recommendations to both organizational and installation planners concerning budget and manpower requirements and special projects.
Track and report any other vehicle management data required by industry standard.
Ensure all vehicles provided under the contract are serviceable and meet National Highway and Traffic Administration (NHTSA) vehicle operations standards.
Ensure daily tracking of vehicles in service and out of service is completed and provided to the Transportation Manager.
Vehicles not in service shall have a temporary back up vehicle either leased or in the Contractor’s motor pool to maintain mail delivery and move schedules as required.
Handle all associated performance standards to include cost control and quality control implementation and standardization of vehicle services.
High school diploma/GED equivalent required SUPPLEMENTED BY 30+ college semester units in Automotive Technology, Public Administration or related field
10+ years of supervisory experience in vehicle maintenance with 5+ years as a manager of a fleet commensurate with the size and scope of this contract
Commercial Driver’s License required
US Government Top Secret Security Clearance;
If required, be able to successfully complete a counterintelligence-based polygraph examination.
