In this important role, you will support the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC)”. Systems Simulation, Software, and Integration Directorate (S3I). S3I is charged with the sustainment and development of the Improved Data Modem (IDM). The IDM is a communication device for the Army rotorcraft digital fleet. It is an Airworthy hardware and software system. The S3I supports software sustainment for fielded IDM systems and an update to transition to the Aviation Mission Common Server (AMCS) multi-core implementation of IDM Software Application (ISA). You will make a difference in enhancing a fielded system that helps keep our military members safe. In the Government contracting realm, this privilege is as good as it gets.
A Lead Senior Software Engineer is needed to support the ISA Team to continue the maintenance and development of the ISA for future integration of external hardware and multiple operating environments.
Work you’ll do
As a Lead Senior Software Engineer within our IDM team, you will:
Work with various other teams to help define 10.3 architecture and requirements as defined by the customer.
Address priorities for new and existing defects
Lead team in an Agile SW environment to achieve success
Function as Scrum Master for the team in estimating the required work defined for each Epic
Review and approve ALL code checked in by the team to ensure it meets coding standards and airworthiness certification requirements
Create status and review presentations to be given to the customer on a weekly basis
Support complete software development lifecycle
Review Unit Test and Code Coverage analysis
Produce software documentation (SSDD, ICD, SDD, SVD) sufficient to support airworthiness certification.
Analyze system, software, and hardware specifications and interface documents
Assist in the architecture, design, and modeling of the ISA software.
Provide leadership for interdisciplinary teams as required for design, documentation, implementation, and test of incremental functional capabilities.
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and 9+ years of experience OR
Master’s degree and 7+ years of experience
Interim Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in leading a team of 7-10 engineers, including developers, testers, and system engineers
Embedded systems software development
Software development using C/C++ Full Software Development Lifecycle, including developing software component design, implementation, and unit test artifacts
Knowledge of Unit Test and Code Coverage practices
Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) experience, Green Hills Integrity 178B is highly desired
Experience developing distributed systems
Network sockets experience including TCP, UDP, and Multicast protocols
Demonstrated experience developing software to implement ICDs
Less than 10% travel should be expected
Ability to work under a deadline
Strong desire to continually learn and improve
Proficient in MS Office
Familiar with Variable Message Format (VMF)
Familiar with Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA), Mil-Std-1553
Familiar with AFAPD and Mil-Std 188-220 communication protocols
Experience integrating hardware/software with Army Rotary Wing Platforms
Experience developing host interfaces for the Army's Combat Net Radios
Development experience using the Ada programming language
Highly desired, previous knowledge of IDM systems or software
Experience with multicore SW projects
Familiar with DO-178 DAL C
Experience with Agile process.
