The Engineer Technician III will perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Select or adapt standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents
Receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed
Construct components, subunits, or adapt standard equipment
Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions
Follow specific layout, diagrams and procedures to construct, maintain, operate, and package equipment.
Conduct various tests or operations which may require minor modifications in setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement such as:
Selecting, preparing, and operating standard equipment
Maintain appropriate records of operations conducted
Extract and compile:
Variety from operating procedures
Written policies and regulations
Lab reports, etc.
Process data identify errors or inconsistencies and select proper procedures to complete tasks.
Assist process/procedural modification by compiling data related to assigned operations, specifications, and materials pertinent to assigned tasks
Develop information concerning previous operational failures and modifications
Use judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information and improve processes.
Perform motor vehicle fleet and heavy equipment maintenance. Maintenance activities consist of:
Basic user/operator care such as:
Road-worthiness inspections, etc.
Component level anomaly analysis and repair.
Provide semi-professional technical support, engineering and analysis working in such areas as:
Test and engineering operations
Advise staff members in order to meet established objectives.
Perform maintenance and other logistics functions on fielded systems
Maintain inventory, prepare order quantities, and track resupply activities
Perform fleet planning, operation, and maintenance
Prepare materials for shipping
Operate test and diagnostic equipment
Operate handling equipment
Operate/Drive various vehicles and heavy equipment including trucks and forklifts for general material handling
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications : (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
Associate’s Degree required
Each additional 1.5 years above the minimum requirement may substitute for one year of college, i.e., 13 years of experience equals an Associate’s Degree.
10 years of relevant experience required
Ability to maintain a driver’s license.
Interim Secret security clearance required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Function independently to resolve problems
Specific experience in parts researching desired.
Experience in heavy equipment diesel engines and hydraulic systems operation and maintenance desired.
Must be computer literate to:
Search for and generate information
Operate and update automated web-based data system
Competent in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Mail).
Physically fit with the ability to lift boxes, packages, and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds using proper equipment and lifting techniques.
May be required to perform strenuous walking, pushing, and lifting tasks and may have to stand for extended periods of time.
Expected to demonstrate precise documentation skills.
Mechanical aptitude and the ability to conscientiously follow written and verbal instruction.
Proper use of standard hand tools and material handling equipment.
Ability to maintain required training and certifications.
Travel: Ability to travel 15-30% to CONUS and OCONUS locations

During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
