Company Job Title: RDE Systems Administrator

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time, Regular


The RDE Systems Administrator will provide system administration duties for multiple servers and networks in a research environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build, configure, and administer Windows servers

  • Build and configure CG Core Servers and client work stations

  • Monitor and maintained LAN/WAN performance and provide support for VPN tunnels, maintenance and operation of PIX firewalls, and all WAN interconnectivity issues.

  • Apply all necessary updates and patches to production systems

  • Build Virtual Machines to include the use of VMware

  • Install and implement ACAS while providing guidance that includes recommendations for best practice configuration of ACAS organizations, scan repositories, asset lists, scan profiles, etc.

  • Ensure that all network equipment complies with various requirements such as STIGS

  • Assist with the design of architecture planning of an RDE network implementation

  • Assist with IAVA application, patch management and backup duties

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Associates Degree and 7 years’ experience in the IT field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 3 years of experience in the use of VMware in an enterprise environment

  • 1 experience with ACAS scanning; preferably in a cloud environment

  • Experience with Windows Desktop 7 – 10 and Server operating systems 2003 – 2012

  • Security , and DoD 8570 Computing Environment Certification within 6 months.

  • TS/SCI required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to meet security clearance requirements

  • Experience with STIG requirements preferred

  • Must have advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook

  • Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards and strong technical knowledge of telecommunications, networks and PC operating systems

  • The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.

  • During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
