Chenega Corporation Database Administrator - Mid in Colorado

Summary

The Database Administrator (DBA) – Mid will provide technical expertise for database design, implementation, and analysis. Your talents, perspectives, and efforts will contribute directly to the production of valuable intelligence to facilitate positive mission outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex database management systems workstations and servers on multiple operating systems.

  • Implement and maintainssmooth operation and physical design of databases.

  • Coordinate, direct and perform complex database software installations and upgrades to operating systems and related database software packages.

  • Schedule installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.

  • Continually monitor and tune multiple database systems and databases to achieve optimum performance levels.

  • Ensure database data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate solutions of varying complexities.

  • Ensure database recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of database backups and archive operations.

  • Plan and implement the modernization of database implementations.

  • Develop, implements and promotes standard operating procedures and schedules.

  • Conduct audits of databases to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Develop and implements new standards, policies and procedures.

  • Work closely with Systems Admins, database engineers, and software developers to help determine and develop the database software and databases that will be implemented.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • 6+ years of related experience in the following areas:

  • Providing desk side support

  • Acting as specializing in troubleshooting complex and advanced end-user issues with hardware and software.

  • Experience with Oracle on Windows (and UNIX for cross coverage) or with the drive and competency to accomplish this (Windows) without delay to deliverables.

  • Experience performing Backups, Patching, Tuning, Troubhelshooting, DB Logging reviews and PL/SQL Developement experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have a broad base of knowledge and be fluent in multiple IT disciplines such as computing and networking.

  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting

  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals

  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.

  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, previous customer service experience strongly desired.

  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it

Salary for this position is approximately 100k-105k
