Chenega Corporation GIS Analyst – Senior in Chantilly, Virginia


100% Remote

NJVC is currently looking for a GIS Analyst – Senior to support our team.


  • Work with related GIS software and programs to create and maintain databases and/or maps that can be combined with geographically referenced data.

  • Meet with users to define data needs, project requirements, required outputs, or to develop applications.

  • Compile geographic data from a variety of sources, including censuses, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.

  • Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.

  • Enter new map data through use of a digitizer or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography, including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 3+ years of experience as a GIS Analyst is required

  • Must have experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software

  • Background check required with the ability to obtain a public trust

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Candidate will not be able to take leave between August 15 – September 30 as this is when natural disasters (i.e., hurricanes) are most likely to occur

  • Must be able to visit customers sites when requested

  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting

  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals

  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications

  • Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues

  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor

  • Previous customer service experience strongly desired

  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
