Chenega Corporation GIS Analyst – Senior in Chantilly, Virginia
NJVC is currently looking for a GIS Analyst – Senior to support our team.
Work with related GIS software and programs to create and maintain databases and/or maps that can be combined with geographically referenced data.
Meet with users to define data needs, project requirements, required outputs, or to develop applications.
Compile geographic data from a variety of sources, including censuses, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
Analyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.
Enter new map data through use of a digitizer or by direct input of coordinate information using the principles of cartography, including coordinate systems, longitude, latitude, elevation, topography, and map scales.
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree required
3+ years of experience as a GIS Analyst is required
Must have experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro software
Background check required with the ability to obtain a public trust

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Candidate will not be able to take leave between August 15 – September 30 as this is when natural disasters (i.e., hurricanes) are most likely to occur
Must be able to visit customers sites when requested
Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others
Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues
Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor
Previous customer service experience strongly desired
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
